Location

The Conference venue is Senate House, University of London and the adjacent main Buildings of Birkbeck, University of London at Malet Street. All coffee breaks and other networking activities will take place at the Senate House (there will be no coffee breaks at Birkbeck). Registration and Lecture rooms

The registration will be open from Friday afternoon 16th December 2011 and take place at the Crush Hall of Senate House.


The paper presentations will take place at Birkbeck (Malet Street) and Senate House (see map). The list of rooms and their capacity will be provided in due course. Due to health and safety regulations the maximum capacity of the rooms should be respected. There will be no signs indicating the location of the lecture rooms, and therefore we advise that you visit the venue in advance.


The opening, keynote and closing talks will take place at the Beveridge Hall of Senate House. The poster sessions will take place at the Crush Halls Senate House. The posters should be displayed only during their assigned session. The authors will be responsible for placing the posters in the poster panel displays. The maximum size of the poster is A0. Chairs are requested to keep the sessions to schedule. Papers should be presented in the order they are listed in the programme for the convenience of attendees who may wish to go to other rooms mid-session to hear particular papers. In the case of a presenter not attending, please use the extra time for a break or a discussion so that the remaining papers stay on schedule.


The lecture rooms will be equipped with a PC and a computer projector. The session chairs should obtain copies of the talks on a USB stick before the session starts (use the lecture room as the meeting place), or obtain the talks by email prior to the start of the conference. Presenters must provide to the session chair with the files for the presentation in PDF (Acrobat) or PPT (Powerpoint) format on a USB memory stick. This must be done ten minutes before each session. The PC in the lecture rooms should be used for presentations. The session chairs are kindly requested to have a laptop for backup. Please note that plugs /power outlets of the UK differ from those in the rest of Europe and beyond. We cannot provide adapters, so please do not forget to take your adapters if needed.


Coffee Breaks, Lunch, Reception and Conference Dinner

The coffee breaks will last 45 minutes each (beginning 15 minutes in advance of the times indicated in the program). These will take place at the Crush Hall MacMillan Hall and Chancellors Hall of the Senate House. You must have your conference badge in order to attend the coffee breaks.


The Welcome Reception is open to all registrants and accompanying persons who have purchased a reception ticket. It will take place at the Senate House Crush Hall on Saturday 17th of December 2011, 20:00-21:30. Conference registrants must bring their conference badge and any accompanying persons should bring their reception tickets in order to to attend the reception.


The conference dinner will take palce at the Beveridge Hall of Senate House on Sunday the 18th December, 20:30-23:30. The conference dinner is optional and registration is required. You must have your Conference Dinner ticket in order to attend the conference dinner.


No arrangements have been made for lunch. Participants can buy lunch at restaurants and cafes in close walking distance to the conference venue (Russell Square Area).

Euston, King's Cross and St. Pancras mainline stations are within walking distance. The other London mainline stations are a short tube or taxi journey away.


Visa Information

The participants coming from outside the UK and requiring visa information should visit the web site www.ukvisas.gov.uk, which is operated by the UK Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This site features an on-line Visa Enquiry Form enabling you to find out whether you need a visa or not. If you do need a visa it will provide you with links to the forms you need to fill out and contact details for your nearest British Embassy, High Commission or Consultate.


If you need a letter confirming your participation to the conference, then this can be provided. However it will only be issued after a registration and payment has been received, and there can be no exceptions to this. Accommodation and Air Travel Reservations
