AIMS AND SCOPE
ERCIM Working Group on COMPUTING & STATISTICS
The working group embraces all aspects of computational statistics. It aims to consolidate the research in computational statistics that is scattered throughout Europe. It will provide research workers with a network from which they can obtain information on the latest developments in methods of computational statistics and their applications.
The working group will encompass all areas of applied statistics that resort to advanced computational methods. These areas include economics, medicine and epidemiology, biology, finance, physics, chemistry, climatology and communications engineering. In consequence of the range of topics addressed and the depth of their coverage, the working group will become an essential research network for academic statisticians and others.
The working group will comprise several of tracks (subgroups, teams) in various research areas of computational statistics. The teams will act autonomously within the framework of the group in order to promote their own research agendas. The activities of the teams --- including their research proposals --- will be sponsored by the working group. The teams will be invited to organise sessions and workshops during the annual working group meeting.
There will be strong links between the ERCIM working group, the ERS-IASC
